My students are often faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom due to their socioeconomic status. Our school is a low-income school that is also unique because of our cultural diversity. We have 22 different languages spoken in our school, which includes English. Many of our families come to our school speaking very little English, or none at all. Our families are not always able to buy supplies for their children or attend school events. They work hard everyday to overcome obstacles and dream of being successful one day. They love to read, like to move, and they thrive on positive attention. They have many things going on at home, but I ensure while they are at school, they have a safe, warm, and loving environment to come to every day.
