These games will help me scaffold my instruction for students. These activities are hands on and will allow me to let students enjoy building fractions in various ways. In class, we do a "What I Need" time where students get the opportunity to focus on a specific area they feel they need help on. These activities will help me build a strong foundation of fractions for my students. They will be used to show my students how equivalent fractions look with manipulative to give them a better foundation of how to create equivalent fractions and simplify fractions. The fraction activity center will allow my students to work collaboratively with one another to practice various skills involving fractions such as simplifying, adding, subtracting, and seeing the many visual models of fractions.
In fourth grade, we have such a large fraction focus thatI want to work to make it as hands on and fun as possible. My students have a wide array of learning needs and learning levels so being able to have various activities to differentiate instruction would be phenomenal!
