My students are in a kindergarten/transitional kindergarten combination classroom at a school in a rural community. They are four and five year-olds who are excited to be playing and learning with their friends, many of them for the first time in a school setting. They are a spirited bunch who love to play and interact with each other, from reading books and playing with play dough to building with blocks and pretending to cook in our small play kitchen. The majority of my students are Mexican - Americans, and several are learning to speak English for the first time. I am very excited to implement developmentally appropriate, interactive and student centered activities that allow their innate creativity and curiosity to shine!
