Art creates joy and transcends reality. It leave the hurt and trauma behind. It focuses on what the students can do when there are many things they can't control. I plan to take a Friday twice a month when we have an extra block period and that is going to be Art Day. To kick the project off, we will do silk hoop painting. I will show them how to paint on silk using silk wrapped around a hoop and textile dyes. The students can copy a picture or make their own design. Since I did it myself, I know that it is a no brainer but lots of fun. With painting on silk, you don't need to be an artist to make something extraordinary and get a lot of pleasure. Watch out Picasso!
