I have a combination class of kindergarten and first. I have 11 first and 13 kindergarten students. The arrangement is not great. I have a paraprofessional for only 2 and 1/2 hours. They have made great progress in reading and writing but need extra help to be at grade level. These students are in a low socioeconomic neighborhood, where literacy rate is low.
