Our students are amazing. Even with their physical and mental disabilities, they work very hard. Our classrooms are in an urban area where funds are limited. As teachers of the students with intellectual disabilities(ranging from mild to profound), we spend much of our time working on teaching functional, vocational, transition goals. Our classrooms are not the typical set up, we have academics, music and movement, art, and sensory exploration with the addition of the speech, occupational, deaf/hard of hearing, visual and physical therapies we receive.
