My juniors and seniors are currently studying AP English Literature. "Blindness" by Jose Saramago will provide students a book of literary merit to read and analyze in preparation for the AP exam. I also want students to have more exposure to authors of color from countries outside the USA and Britain. Students will grapple with literary diversity after high school and beyond college, and it is important that students who are in a diverse school setting have access to a diverse set of authors. Reading through a diverse lens prevents us from experiencing the "blindness" the world sets upon us.
