I teach 8th grade math and Algebra I at a middle school in Texas, and more than 55% of our 1400 students are economically disadvantaged. The parents of our students from all backgrounds are eager for their children to learn, but many lack the resources to provide them with technology at home that educates and helps foster a love for learning. Technology is rooted in most of the students' lives as a means of entertainment, so they are naturally engaged when it is used in the classroom. It is very important that the students themselves use technology in class, rather than simply observe it. In 8th grade, the foundations made in reasoning, problem solving, and algebraic skills are crucial for success in high school and beyond. Your donation will help put technology in the hands of many more students, allowing them to become more invested in their education, more likely to enjoy math, and better prepared for the future.
