We would love to have our own personal spot in our classroom. This is where my students begin and end each day. We begin the day with our morning meeting and daily read aloud. This is the place where we come together to share what's on our mind, discuss what we did exciting over the weekend, and look forward to what we will learn new today. We read a variety of stories, and turn and talk to our friends about what we predict will happen next. We write about personal experiences and share our favorite journal entries with a friend.
The majority of our day is spent on the carpet. I would love to provide my students with a comfy place where they are all engaged in learning. In the morning, students work in literacy stations and enjoy independent and buddy reading here. They participate in brain breaks where they dance, sing, and release their energy. They return to learning feeling motivated and happy. In the afternoon, we gather on the carpet for our daily group math lesson and Mystery Math Problem of the Day. We end our busy day on the carpet sharing what we learned, reading a favorite story, and playing a class game.
A clean carpet where we can all fit comfortably and have our own personal spot would brighten our day. Our classroom carpet would make our classroom a warm and inviting place, and motivate student learning. We look forward to many exciting learning adventures on our new classroom carpet!
