The iPads that I am requesting are needed greatly. I will use them at several points within the day to foster independence and pride in their work. During Daily 5 and Math rotations, the students must show accountability for the work that they are doing. Through the use of iPads and the Seesaw app, students will be able to take photos of their work and send to me so that it can be shared. At some times, the work can even be graded! (I borrowed a group of iPads for a short time and saw a dramatic increase in student work motivation, but was unable to keep them on a permanent basis.) The iPads will also be used for listening and responding to literature. The students love to scan a QR code that enables a story to come to life. At the moment, I am allowing them to do so with my personal iphone.
I have found that regardless of economic status, or home situation, most students can be reached and motivated through the use of technology. The ability to use these iPads within our daily learning routine will improve my students attention to detail in their work and instill a sense of independence and pride.
