"We live in our car, mom's in jail, I had to stay up to give the baby her bottle, I ate cereal for dinner, my 10 year old brother took care of me last night..." The stories are endless and heartbreaking. Yet these children come into my class with the biggest sweetest smile most of the time. At the end of every school day my students don't want to go home. They absolutely enjoy the experiences and opportunities your donations have provided them.
I work in a school whose children all receive free breakfast and lunch. We all know about the impacted budgets of our schools. Having children of my own, I simply cannot spend much of my own money anymore to provide for my classroom.
In the hustle and bustle of surviving every day life for these children, I want to expand my students' supplies with a listening center and puzzles. They really need more hands-on activities and deserve all this and more.
