The chromebooks I am hoping for will serve so many purposes in my classroom for the children. First, it is a valuable resource for the students to practice skills learned in class. These chromebooks will be part of a center in our classroom set up, as students complete specific Language and Math assignments and activities on them throughout the week. We have curriculum through our school that includes online features. Using those online features is a wonderful reinforcement with the direct application of content and skills just learned in class. In addition to that, we will be using these chromebooks to work on publishing our writing as well as a resource for research for our writing. While studying different topics in our Social Studies and Science curriculum, having these chromebooks in our classrooms will provide us with endless resources and the means to develop the skill of being critical readers. Also, having these tools readily available in the classroom will provide more opportunity for the students to strengthen their computer literacy, as the digital world just continues to explode.
The connections they can make with these chromebooks are invaluable. The connections with learning resources. Connections with others. Connections with skills taught in class as they apply them with online activities. Connections with the world that they seem to be so far away from in our small rural community. It is my hope that these chromebooks in our classroom can be the bridge for all of these connections.
