Our school is located in a beautiful town and has approximately 400 students. We are a Title I school, with 70% of our student population on free/reduced lunch. Our mission is to deliver a superior curriculum that establishes a foundation of knowledge and empowers children. I have a group of twenty high energy, creative, and compassionate first graders. My biggest challenge each day is reaching the wide range of needs. Some specific needs that must be met include English as a second language, specific learning disabilities, academically gifted, etc. My class learns best in small groups, center rotations, creative projects, and direct teaching. It is not uncommon for many of my students to come into my room needing more support with homework, snack, or just time for personal talk. Although, a majority of my students do not have access to new materials and computers, they are inspired by technology.
