The children in my school district come mostly from economically disadvantaged homes. They have such a love for learning, but their opportunities can sometimes be hindered by the resources available to them, at home and in school. Like many school districts, our budgets have been slashed. Some might say that this means "extras" like art and music should be cut, too, to save money. But I passionately believe that art gives these kids a window into a larger world, a platform on which to express their individuality, and a place to nurture their sense of creativity.
