This project is about building community by emphasizing common goals and dreams for our future. April 22, 2020 is earth day and the day we would like this event to take place. By collaborating with art teachers from different districts at the high school level we hope to break down stereotypes by bringing students together to discuss issues related to the environment. They will bond over creating a shared goal related to the stewardship of the planet. By designing the kites with images and text about their hopes for the future they will committ themselves to the changes needed to bring about such a future.
The idea for this Earth day event is to bring students together to fly the kites and to find strength in a unified vision that supports everyone.
