I love to teach. I once was asked why did I become a teacher and I remembered replying confidently--to better someone's life and to leave the passion for learning as my legacy! I truly believe in this idea. My fifth graders bring out the best in me and they teach me something new everyday. In this profession, not only do I get to do what I love, which is to teach, but I get to be a lifelong learner.
One of the biggest downfall of being an educator is the struggle each year to provide the adequate resources to meet the demands of the 21st century. The world around us keeps advancing forward with technology and innovative researches. Our future lies in the ideas and thoughts of these young minds, but yet, we do not always put the highest priority to ensure adequate funding towards their education. I applaud my colleagues for dealing with less, teaching more, and still greet the students each day with open arms.
