My Film class is composed of a diverse group of learners who are bursting with potential; they are curious, investigative learners, and I work hard to meet their learning needs with rigorous, creative curriculum! As juniors and seniors in an underserved public school (we are a Title 1 school and 82% of the students qualify for free lunch, meaning that our students come from households needing less than 30,000 annual income to support a family of four or more), these young people are student leaders in a community with substantial challenges including shocking violence, overemphasis of police presence, and cyclical poverty. My Film class team is composed of students who rise above their circumstances and achieve stunning academic and extracurricular success. In addition to being a part of a Film elective, they are enrolled in AP classes and after-school courses at local colleges and are members of student government and the National Honor Society.
