I teach in a low-income/high poverty school in Phoenix, Arizona. The students at my school have many different challenges that they have to conquer on a daily basis in and outside of school. Fortunately, the students do not let these challenges slow them down and come to school every day ready to learn. The teachers here do not only teach the students the subjects, they also teach them life skills/lesson throughout the year.
As a school, we provide free breakfast and lunch to about 95 percent of the students.
Allowing the students to eat at school for free has changed the learning environment for the better. The students are not hungry or thinking about if they will eat that day. This allows the students to think about their education. Our school goal is to try to create the best teaching environment. As a teacher, I do not want my students to think about just today. I want my students to think of the future.
About my class
