My students absolutely love learning through hands-on experience and expressing their creativity through art. Several students approached me early in the school year to ask if I would bring my personal machine back into the classroom and teach them how to sew. They passionately explained their desire to make presents for friends and family. Students started requesting to come in during recess, study halls, and even began coming after school on their own time to work with me to learn how to use my sewing machine!
One student in particular has proposed a separate project to create a unique soft sewn sculpture for each of the K4 students by the end of the year. I currently have 10 students who regularly come to my room outside of class time to work on various projects but I routinely have more students coming in to learn once they hear their peers talking about their independent work! These requests are inspiring and helped convince me to pursue this Ðǿմ«Ã½.org project.
