My students are amazing. They come from all walks of life and have experiences you wouldn't wish on anyone. Yet, they come to school everyday and work hard. They know when they walk through my door each day that they are welcomed and loved and there is consistency. Most of our kids are from low-income/below poverty line households. Our biggest challenge is convincing them there is life beyond what they are living now. Nothing beats the smiles on their faces when they get a dose of success or realize they can do something. We don't get a lot of financial support, but we do get thank-yous for just being here and working hard for their kids.
