These story retelling kits and quality magnetic and felt manipulative pieces will give my students hands on learning experiences while increasing their engagement. Having relevant and realistic pictures helps students develop oral language and make connections to thematic content. The large sizes of flannel and magnetic pieces bring in a playful and interactive element to deepen those connections and offer multiple ways to expose young children to vocabulary. The portable flannel boards can be moved throughout the classroom where there are magnetic surfaces. This makes learning more relevant by meeting my students where they are and connecting learning to their interests.
Exposing children to familiar stories and nursery rhymes from a young age helps develop listening skills, pre-reading skills, and a love for language and communication.
The interactive materials in this project will immerse my students in opportunities to learn and practice the language they are learning during instruction and extend it in their playful learning centers.
