Money is such an intriguing part of our world. My students, just like society in general, absolutely love money. They see and know the power of money, but don't truly have a concept of the "trail" of money. The fake bills and coins will provide students the opportunity to interact with money. Students will be asked to set up a classroom economy. Students will be able to buy and sell goods that they have created or to market special skills using this money. The checkbooks will allow students to be able to understand the different methods of paying for services and goods.
The donations to this project will help my students gain a healthy perspective on money as they interact with it. Students will enjoy the realistic feel and experience of working directly with money and coins. They will also gain a sense of accomplishment as they establish their classroom economy and watch trends.
