Our school is located in a very diverse community of English language learners from all over the world. We are home to many nationalities including India, Mexico, and Iran among others. We are a small school with about 460 students and pride ourselves with earning several awards including the California Distinguished School and an SAS Gifted School. However, although we have made much progress in our little community, we are forever in need of the latest technology because we lack the funds.
Our school recently gained charter status due to the inconsistencies with our district funding. Without our charter, we could not offer the dynamic curriculum we currently offer. Moving into the next school year, we are fearful that charter funds may be cut and that would mean our school would loose even more. However, we remain hopeful that with the budget in tact we can continue to give our students the excellent instruction that they deserve without cutting into our curriculum.
