There have been countless studies conducted, recently, which have proven that students learn best when they are able to move. Some of these studies suggest standing workstations or exercise equipment modified for the classroom. In our classroom, we are simply seeking options in where and how we work productively. By providing flexible seating options, my students will be able to choose a location in the room, where they can work productively and cooperatively, while still having all of their necessary materials. This also allows students to have the seating option that works best for them. The wobble cushions will benefit my more active students by allowing them a wider range of movement within their seats, while still remaining safe and minimizing disruptions to others. The lap trays and clipboards will greatly benefit those students who find it more conducive to their learning to work on the floor or some other seat, which typically does not have a flat writing surface. The stools will allow those students who find the typical classroom chair to be uncomfortable. They need another option which sits higher and is backless. It is my hope that, with your support, my students can find a new level of comfort and productivity in our classroom, and we can get one step closer to providing all students with the classroom environment that makes them the most successful!
