With a strict/ scripted curriculum, fun and spontaneity in education lessens every day. As a teacher, I have to be very sly about how I squeeze fun into our lessons. I have been able to accomplish this with books!
Literature helps kids travel and explore, fantasize and imagine, all while staying put at school! Most of the supplies in my cart are books to build our library, because right now, we don't have one. Reading has always been a favorite pastime of mine, and it shows. My students love it when I read to them during snack time. I hope to continue building this love for reading with them through modeling. I also need seat sacks because our room is limited in space.
