I am asking for blocks and other toys to create a block area because I will be able to use them to teach my children to play functionally and engage with each other. I can also use them for math (sorting, counting, and patterning). Right now all we have are Legos. . Children with autism need to be taught how to play with toys and how to with play with other children.
The materials that I am asking for will help me teach my children to play functionally with toys and to engage with each other!
The addition of the blocks and other materials would mean so much to my children and I. You really don't understand the importance of knowing how to play until you see a child sitting by himself just holding a toy not knowing what to do with it and a bunch of children playing together.
