As a dedicated teacher who has a big heart for her students, my goal is to create a whimsical learning environment where my students feel safe, comfortable, and intrigued to learn. In an effort to create this warm, welcoming environment, I have gone from thrift stores, yard sales, craft stores, and online shopping, in search of classroom furniture, decorations, storage materials, student resource materials, and much more. My goal is to convert a small mobile unit classroom into a place my 5th graders look forward to coming to daily. As many know, a teacher’s paycheck will only stretch so far. This is what brings me to plea for donations. Though I have found books for our classroom library, many of them are for reading levels that are lower than 5th grade. My children need books that are on their level and above to help them learn and challenge their abilities. Having access to a classroom community iPad would contribute tremendously to my kiddos education. Through the use of electronics, my students could build good character traits by practicing respect for technological devices and for each other through sharing community devices while using them to conduct research, access educational websites and apps, and create class movies.
