This summer I was privileged enough to spend three weeks at a Modeling Instruction Workshop. Now I am ready to bring back the pedagogy behind this awesome model to my students.

My students will be using the dry erase boards and Expo markers for discussion circles. After conducting a lab they can show their data, answer questions, use it for evidence and so much more. Whiteboarding has many valuable uses as well. It gives students a chance to reinforce their understanding of concepts; students often don’t know exactly what they think until they’ve heard themselves express the idea. They are also highly motivated to understand the question they are assigned to present, since they will be speaking in front of their peers.
