In a typical day I see around 120 students ranging from Pre-K to 6th grade. By now my students know me and know what I expect out of them, which is to try their best. I emphasize that they don't have to be the best artists, but to try and use their creativity and they will succeed. Seeing all of the students in the building I have seen the abilities and the creativity and want to push my students to their limits so they can truly see what they are capable of.
When introducing new concepts to my students, sometimes I have to go back to the basics and just introduce the materials because my students may have never used them before. It is important to me that my students get to experience all of art, all the materials they can, and figure out what medium they love working with, just like my art teachers did for me as a student.
