My students are 4-5 years old. We focus a majority of our time on self awareness(social and emotional learning) and literacy.
We take a lot of pictures and use pictures everywhere in the classroom. Unfortunately our school does not have a color printer or school laminator. These materials will allow my students to use the photos I take with my phone and then print off the photos. We can use those photos to document our learning.
We will use the lamination sheets and book binding, to make books. These books will not only document our learning to allow for reflection, but will allow the class to create our own books.
I have a goal of creating at least one book, written during shared writing and illustrated during art, for each unit. That is 1-2 books per month. This is a wonderful literacy and community building activity in the PreK class!
We use a lot of photos in our class. We use photos to label the objects in class, to post photos of our past experiments, to share photos of our families and more. I have asked for a refill for the printer because I know I will use a minimum of two cartridges!
Pictures are also used to reach every child at their learning style. Some of my children rely heavily on pictures(ESL, developmental delays, hearing impaired, etc), this will allow those children to have the extra support they need in class.
Our classrooms are not yet fully equipped to meet their needs of our students. This fund will give my students the tools needed to create rich and diverse learning environment. Thank you for your support!
