I have a BSEE from LSU. I thought I might teach when I retired, as I always enjoyed tutoring. But, when I graduated, it was tough finding engineering work, so, in 2005, I subbed at a friend's school. I enjoyed it so much, I kept doing it. I gained alternative certification in 2006 and my MAT in 2010.
I have taught 6th grade math and science, 8th grade math, and high school math and engineering. I took 18 months off beginning in 2013 to pursue an engineering career. It was interesting, but I longed for teaching, returning in August of 2014. My last 8 years of teaching have been at mostly rural schools with a majority of students on free and reduced lunch. As a result, I have students who aren't lucky enough to have their lives entrenched in technology. I want to change that. I want them to be seasoned citizens of the digital world when they leave my classroom. In order to do so, I need a reliable and powerful device to create lessons worthy of my kids.
