My first graders are eager, interested and excited. Eager to share stories about their lives and what they did over the weekend, interested in knowing what we will be learning each day and excited and ready to learn. My school is located in an low-income section of the city with a very transient population. Our classroom community changes often during the school year. Despite our ever-changing classroom population, my students are always welcoming to the new students and empathetic to the students who have to leave.
