I am a School Counselor working low income population, high poverty population in Philadelphia. I service students in grades Kindergarten through 2nd grade. The student population is around 900 students. All students receive Title One Funding and receive free meals for breakfast and lunch. The area of Kensington where Webster resides faces extreme challenges such as a high level of crime, drugs and issues surrounding poverty and mental health.
My students are very eager to learn! They enjoy hands on activities and moving around the classroom. They come to school every day with smiles on their faces and know that school is a safe place to learn.
