I have found over these last 3 years of taking over the role as Yearbook Adviser that if you empower the students and give them the tools to succeed they will run with it! I have been so proud and pleased with the products they have produced and the pride THEY take in doing the work. They learn real world skills in this class and are better equipped to deal with pressures of deadlines, time management, collaborating, and the list goes on and on. Our school is in an urban area where there are many low income families. Trying to produce a professional Yearbook that the students can cherish while keeping the price right and getting them to BUY one has been a struggle. We have made cuts and are continually trying new things to promote the sales of our beautiful yearbooks. Having a larger staff gives us the opportunity to get MORE coverage and in turn, include more students in the book. If more students are featured they will be more likely to buy one.
