The kindergarten students who I work with mirror the rest of our district, a high percentage (70%) of students on free and reduced lunch, underprepared academically, and multiple students in and out of homeless situations. Our school staff works hard every day to try and engage students who might not have anyone else that cares about their academic progress. We also have a small percentage of students who are achieving at or above grade level. Since our school has such a wide variety of academic needs, and technology is such a key component to our culture, I feel a need to provide my students with the same opportunities as students from more affluent districts.
