It is expected that students progressively use more technology in the classroom and at home to become 21st-century learners. Being in a school that has a low economic status, many of my families do not have the finances or access to technology outside the school. As a first grade teacher, I am constantly looking for new and innovative ways to stimulate the student’s engagement and comprehension of the core curriculum. My school is a Title I school, located in South Central Los Angeles, which means that the students in the school have reduced price or free breakfast and lunch.
Technology is very sparse at my school’s location. Often, I use my personal tablet to support my students in understanding vocabulary and acquiring much needed language and math support. I am asking for your help in providing technology access for my students. Technology will support the students in preparing for the most critical academic undertaking of their lives: the mastery of math, reading and writing.
