There is an exciting trend happening in public and school libraries which is called the Makerspace Movement. The idea of these spaces is to challenge and stretch students' creativity and critical thinking skills. WOHS LMC has established an innovative space for these purposes. Our makerspace brings individuals together who may not otherwise meet and promotes learning skills they may not have the opportunity or means to come across anywhere else. It brings individuals out of their comfort zones and allows them creative diversion.
Our goals:
To foster creativity in students, regardless of gender, age, race, socioeconomic status.
To instill positive habits in learning such as creating for pleasure, creating for curiosity, creating for discovery.
To initiate conversation and healthy debate among teens by resolving conflicts in games and sharing materials.
To explore different art and scientific genres.
