Everything goes silent...then all of the sudden you hear, in a powerful roaring voice, the words "Ready?...Set?...GO!" If you are anything like me, hearing those words, as a participant or as a spectator, always evokes an instant burst of excitement.
For the next week, I am a participant in the "GO!" phase. My burst of excitement is part of the fuel that will help develop my classroom environment and lessons. Less than half of my 5th/6th grade students happen to require special education services. In other words, I have an opportunity to use unconventional resources to help them learn.
On August 22, I will say "Ready?...Set?...GO!" to my students. Then, I become the guiding spectator and they become the participants. They will grow and thrive in the environment and lessons created.
Will you transition from spectator to participate and help fuel my students? Are you ready?...Set?...GO!
