As a teacher in a Title I campus, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. In addition, my students are also faced with various learning and emotional disabilities. Despite these challenges, my students are eager to learn and bring their love for math (that's right they LOVE math) into my classroom every day.
They require hands-on, concrete materials to solidify concepts. We use station based activities to promote teamwork, growth, perseverance and our Brookside core values. From the minute, they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while encouraging them to never give up. I may not be able to control what Harvey has taken away, however, I can certainly control their experiences in my classroom.
