Many of my students are entering the 1st half of an Algebra 1 class...some of them are incoming freshman, while others are struggling sophomores and sometimes juniors trying to understand and get math. While they are great kids, a lot of times they just do not have the internal motivation or curiosity to learn math. I try to change that attitude in my classroom by practicing math on a daily basis using whiteboards. The whiteboards make learning and practicing math fun, and students come into class each day eager to get to the part of class in which they start to use the whiteboards...it’s fun for me when they get to the point where they are begging me to take the whiteboards out.
