These journalism students are sophomores through seniors of various skill levels, with diverse interests and backgrounds. Together, they are responsible for creating the student newspaper, The Inkspot, the news site NCHSinkspot.com, and our social media channels @nchsinkspot. Using these outlets, the students work to cover the school and the surrounding community. In 2012, after publishing a print paper since the 1940s the Inkspot ceased print production. However, in 2018 these students worked to return the Inkspot to print. We seek to be a part of a professional journalism community and practice authentic storytelling in as many mediums as possible. This requires the equipment, tools, and programs used by the pros. That offers us the ability to work towards honing twenty-first century skills like collaboration, creativity, communication and problem-solving, career skills that are essential upon graduation.
