Out of 1600 students in a Title 1 high school located in a downtown area, I am very fortunate to have 22 students that come to class daily with enthusiasm and a passion for the environment. The city in which they live is known for many things, but living green is not one of them. I know my students with their ingenuity and commitment will benefit greatly from project based learning with compost. Watching my students gain a better understanding of the environment and even choosing environmental studies as a career path are some of the rewards I have experienced.
