Be they band or chorus students, all of my students want to perform; I want that, too! They want to sing, and play, and be the next YouTube sensation, or win the next TV talent show; I want that spotlight to shine on them, too! Behind the glitz and glam of the performances that we see, however, is a foundation of musical knowledge that will help them to write that song; connect with that audience; move those people who have influence. I have strived to give my students that foundation for years, and I will continue to give them what they need, for years to come! The supplies that I'm requesting will allow my students to always have the supplies needed for the studies of music: pencils and a hi-quality pencil sharpener to take notes; hi-lighters to make it easier to identify a particular voice part (soprano, alto, or baritone); tissue to keep the 200+ students that use the music room from spreading germs! Although the inclusion of an elevated chair - for the conductor - may seem odd, I'm returning to my classroom after an 8-month absence due to having to recover from a head-on collision. The elevated seat will allow me to sit at the conductor's podium, instead of stand all day, so that my health doesn't prevent me from being there for my students!
