I teach at a Title 1 school located in Southern Virginia. One hundred percent of the students receive free breakfast and free lunch. These students come from a variety of socioeconomic statuses and have dealt with major life issues at such an early age. My students come to school facing social, emotional, and academic challenges. Although they experience difficult situations outside of school, they come to school eager, ready to learn, and full of questions! Our classroom is a safe place for them to learn and grow as they become readers, authors, and mathematicians in an ever changing world.
