My classroom is full of bright fourth graders. Some are already bookworms who crave entering a fictional world where everything in reality fades away. Some are aspiring authors wanting to write novels like their favorite authors. And some are struggling readers who've not yet found a passion for reading or writing, either because they come from a low-income family, English is not their first language, or they've yet to pick up that one book that will forever change their attitude about reading. My students are eager to learn and anxious to share their words with the world, our classroom just doesn't have enough books at their appropriate reading level to show them how powerful words can be.
