I teach at a small 4th and 5th grade school; about half of our school is low income. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with close to 50% of our students receiving free lunch. We live in a military community, in a small town, where funds are limited.
My students are hard working, determined overachievers who never fail to meet a challenge. My students have very big plans for their futures. When asked what they would like to do when they grow up, I hear responses such as: cardiologist, marine biologist, Navy pilot, pediatric doctor, and ultrasound tech. It is my goal to meet each student at his or her academic level and help them reach their full potential.
