I like to have books within the classroom for students to be able to check out as they please without worrying about fines or little siblings ruining them or anything of that sort. I allow my students to take these books home and read them throughout the year and return them at the end of the year.
I use books to show my student's the adventures they can go on, especially during those tough middle school moments. I like to have a wide variety for these kiddos to choose from that the library usually runs out of pretty quickly. I also try to match books I get with the same book in other languages so that my students can check both out to read with their families if they have family members who do not speak English.
