When I first heard Ron Clark speak in 2003, he ignited my fire for education! He is full of passion and energy, and he makes me want to be a better teacher! I followed his journey, read all his books and traveled to hear him speak almost every year. I even had a chance to visit the opening of The Ron Clark Academy in 2007, but with the arrival of my first son, I had to postpone the adventure. After staying home with my boys for eight years, and returning to the classroom two years ago, it is finally time for me to experience the awesomeness that is the Ron Clark Academy! Teaching is my passion, and I want to spread that same passion to my students! I want to make a difference in the lives of the children I am blessed enough to work with, and more importantly, I want them to believe that they can make a difference! Going to the Ron Clark Academy for professional development will allow me to learn from the best! I will learn strategies for integrating music and games into the classroom. I will learn how to promote academic rigor while meeting the needs of all learners, and how to create a climate and culture that promotes student success. This project will cover the cost of registration for the two-day professional development, lodging, and transportation. Ron Clark said, "To me, life is about experiences, the ones you make for yourself and the ones you make for others." Thank you for helping me experience this adventure and share it with my students!
