My wonderful students are eager to learn everything they can about music during our weekly classes, and I am constantly looking for more opportunities to support their ambitions. While our classroom instruments and resources are limited, they still manage to amaze me with how quickly they take in music. They currently pair up on the set of Orff instruments we do have and utilize our keyboard and handbells for additional instruments to play during rehearsals of repertoire. Our growing school is seeing an increase in class sizes which sometimes creates an issue with not having enough instruments.
Having additional Orff instruments will give my students the opportunity to play more repertoire with additional parts, share in creating musical memories together, and improve their musical aptitude which, in turn, improves their overall intelligence. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and needs, but all come together in the music room to make connections through musical performances. I have never seen more passionate music students and I am confident this opportunity would be more than appreciated by these eager learners.
