These materials will help us transform our storage room into an interactive learning lab to take education above and beyond. We are currently working to take a boring storage room full of old desks and tables and turning it into an interactive place where students can go above and beyond with their education. This room will serve as multi functional to our grade level and to other students within the school.
Our goal is to have a place where students can take the information that they have learned in the classroom and explore more of their interests to get them excited about learning. We plan to do this by providing students with a space to create through a Makerspace, a Hackspace to build interest in 21st learning goals, and a multifunctional room for students that need tutoring or a special place to read. The Learning Lab will be used by both students and teachers to create a welcoming area to expand learning.
The supplies that we are asking for are to help create a comfortable space where students feel invited to come and learn. The futon, pillow, and chairs will give students a space to sit and read, take tests, or work 1:1 with a teacher/specialist. The storage units and shelves will allow us to organize and move our math manipulatives and other educational materials off the floor, where they currently are, and in to a space to create openness within the room. Out pegboard and supplies will be dedicated to our new Makerspace area so that students will be able to bring their projects to realistic properties. With the lamps that we are asking for, students will be able to see a new light with our storage room turned multi-lab.
